Job description
NovaChem Solutions is actively seeking a Senior Chemical Engineer to lead process development and optimization across our portfolio of client projects. This is a hands-on role focused on designing scalable chemical processes, evaluating unit operations, and driving safety and efficiency in production environments.
You will collaborate with R&D, operations, and quality teams to translate lab-scale data into scalable pilot and plant-scale designs, and contribute to the company's growth through innovative process improvements.
Responsibility
- Lead design and optimization of scalable chemical processes across pilot, bench, and full-scale production.
- Perform process simulations, mass and energy balances, equipment sizing, and utility requirements.
- Conduct HAZOP studies, risk assessments, and ensure regulatory compliance and safety standards.
- Collaborate with R&D, operations, and safety teams to implement process improvements and scale-up strategies.
- Develop and validate PFDs and P&IDs; specify equipment, instrumentation, and control strategies.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and cross-functional teams; mentor junior engineers.
- Apply DOE, statistical analysis, and data-driven optimization to enhance performance and yield.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in process development, scale-up, and operations in chemical manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of unit operations, reaction engineering, separations, and process safety.
- Proficiency with Aspen HYSYS/Aspen Plus, MATLAB, CFD tools, and data-driven optimization.
- Experience with pilot plant operations, commissioning, and regulatory compliance (OSHA, environmental regulations).
- Excellent communication, presentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Project management experience and a mindset for continuous improvement (Lean Six Sigma a plus).
