Job description
At ApexChem Solutions, we engineer safe, sustainable, and scalable chemical processes for global industries. We are seeking a Senior Chemical Process Engineer to lead design, optimization, and technology transfer across multi-disciplinary teams. The ideal candidate combines deep process knowledge with hands-on implementation experience in petrochemical, specialty chemicals, or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
You'll drive process improvements, model and simulate complex systems, and mentor junior engineers to deliver projects on time and on budget. This is a high-impact role suited for a hands-on leader who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Responsibility
- Lead the design, optimization, and scale-up of chemical processes from concept through commissioning and start-up.
- Develop and validate process models using Aspen Plus/HYSYS, MATLAB, and CFD tools to improve yield, energy efficiency, and safety.
- Conduct rigorous process hazard analysis (HAZOP/What-If) and implement robust risk mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with R&D, operations, quality, and procurement to ensure seamless technology transfer and regulatory compliance.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers; manage project schedules, budgets, and resource planning.
- Implement process safety, environmental, and quality systems in accordance with industry standards.
- Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, commissioning protocols, and commissioning handover packages.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using data analytics and process optimization methods.
Qualification
- BS or MS in Chemical Engineering; PhD a plus, with 5+ years of process engineering experience in petrochemical, refinery, or specialty chemicals sectors.
- Proven expertise in process simulation (Aspen Plus/HYSYS), MATLAB, CFD, and data-driven optimization.
- Strong knowledge of process safety, CAPEX/OPEX estimation, and scale-up from lab to plant.
- Experience with DRD/Project management methodologies; ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects.
- Excellent communication skills, technical writing, and presentation abilities for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, hands-on approach, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Regulatory compliance knowledge (OSHA, environmental permits) and a safety-first mindset.
- Residency or work eligibility in the United States; willingness to travel as needed (up to 20%).
