Job description
At Catalystix Technologies, we engineer scalable chemical processes that power a sustainable future. Weβre seeking a Senior Chemical Process Engineer to lead the design, optimization, and execution of complex projects from concept through commercialization. You will collaborate with R&D, operations, safety, and supply chain to deliver safe, reliable, and financially compelling solutions.
This role blends hands-on process design with leadership responsibilities, offering a clear path to technical mastery and strategic influence in a fast-growing organization.
Responsibility
- Lead and oversee process design for new and existing production lines, including mass and energy balances, equipment sizing, heat integration, and process control strategies.
- Translate lab- and pilot-scale data into scalable plant designs; develop robust process models and operating envelopes.
- Develop and review PFDs and P&IDs; specify unit operations, process equipment, and instrumentation.
- Perform rigorous process simulations using Aspen Plus or HYSYS; conduct sensitivity analyses and DOE studies to optimize yields and energy use.
- Drive safety and environmental compliance; lead hazard analysis, risk assessments, and Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Manage capital projects from concept to commissioning; prepare scope, cost estimates, timelines, and vendor interactions; coordinate with operations and maintenance.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, manufacturing, EHS, and supply chain to deliver reliable, scalable solutions and continuous improvements.
Qualification
- BS in Chemical Engineering; MS preferred.
- 7+ years of process engineering experience in industrial chemical manufacturing, refining, or pharmaceutical environments.
- Proficiency in process simulation software (Aspen Plus, Aspen HYSYS); familiarity with CFD and Excel for data analysis.
- Strong knowledge of PFDs/P&IDs, heat exchanger networks, and equipment sizing.
- Proven track record in scaling up processes from lab/pilot to commercial operation; project management experience.
- Solid understanding of safety, environmental, and regulatory standards (NFPA, OSHA, API or GMP as applicable).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills; ability to mentor junior engineers.
