Job description

Join Pioneer Chemicals as a Senior Chemical Process Engineer in Houston, TX. You will lead the design, optimization, and scale-up of chemical processes across our petrochemical operations. Responsibility

  • Lead end-to-end process design, optimization, and scale-up from concept through commercialization.
  • Develop and validate process models using Aspen Plus, HYSYS, and other simulation tools to drive design decisions.
  • Perform rigorous mass and energy balances, thermodynamics analyses, and reaction engineering evaluations.
  • Conduct HAZOPs and other process safety studies; implement recommended mitigations.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Project Management to troubleshoot, commission, and start up new or modified units.
  • Create and maintain P&IDs, equipment lists, and technical documentation; ensure regulatory and quality compliance.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.

Qualification

  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering; M.S. preferred; PE license a plus.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in chemical processing, preferably petrochemicals or specialty chemicals.
  • Advanced proficiency with process simulation and design tools (Aspen Plus, HYSYS, CHEMCAD).
  • Strong fundamentals in mass/energy balances, thermodynamics, reaction kinetics, and heat transfer.
  • Hands-on experience with P&IDs, HAZOPs, LOPA, and safety instrumentation.
  • Proven project management and cross-functional collaboration skills; excellent communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and travel as needed.
  • US work authorization; willingness to work on-site in Houston.
