Job description
Join ApexChem Industries, a leading innovator in chemical manufacture and sustainability. We are seeking a Senior Chemical Process Engineer to lead scalable process development, optimize operations, and drive safety and efficiency across our production facilities in Houston.
In this role you will collaborate cross-functionally to design, simulate, and optimize chemical processes from lab to pilot to full-scale production, ensuring reliability, safety, and environmental compliance. You will mentor junior engineers, influence CAPEX decisions, and push for continuous improvement across all stages of the product lifecycle.
We offer a competitive compensation package, strong career growth, and exposure to cutting-edge chemistries in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
Responsibility
- Lead process design and optimization for new and existing chemical processes from concept to commercialization.
- Develop and validate process simulations using Aspen Plus or HYSYS; optimize energy usage and solvent recovery.
- Conduct mass and energy balances, PFDs and P&IDs, and design of experiments to characterize performance.
- Lead hazard and operability studies (HAZOP) and implement process safety improvements.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and safety teams to scale processes from pilot to production.
- Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities through equipment selection, heat integration, and waste minimization.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to CAPEX project planning and execution.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, risk assessments, and change controls.
Qualification
- BS or MS in Chemical Engineering; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in process engineering within chemical, petrochemical, or related industries.
- Strong proficiency in process simulation software (Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and data analysis tools.
- Experience with distillation, heat exchangers, reaction engineering, and separation processes.
- Solid understanding of process safety, environmental regulations, and risk assessment methods.
- Proven track record in delivering successful scale-up and CAPEX projects.
- Excellent communication, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Legal work authorization to work in the United States.
