Responsibility
- Lead and manage civil engineering design for infrastructure projects from concept through construction, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget adherence.
- Conduct site investigations, prepare design calculations, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes and standards.
- Develop and review drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D and BIM workflows; produce technical reports and construction documents.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and stakeholders; manage change orders and risk mitigation plans.
- Oversee QA/QC processes, design reviews, and permit submissions; support environmental and geotechnical considerations as needed.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and drafters; foster a collaborative and safety-focused team culture.
- Monitor project progress, prepare progress reports, and participate in client presentations and public meetings as required.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program; master's degree is a plus.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in California or ability to obtain within 12 months.
- Minimum 8 years of progressive civil engineering experience in infrastructure projects (roads, bridges, drainage, utilities).
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and BIM tools; experience with hydraulic/hydrology software (HEC-HMS, SWMM) a plus.
- Strong knowledge of Caltrans/AASHTO standards, permitting processes, and stormwater/drainage design.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and client-management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Willingness to travel to project sites and occasional meetings as needed.
