Responsibility
- Assess and underwrite commercial accounts across multiple industries, ensuring profitability and risk control.
- Analyze financial statements, loss histories, exposures, and market conditions to determine coverage and pricing.
- Collaborate with brokers and clients to structure quotes, endorsements, and policy wordings.
- Monitor portfolio performance, renewals, and exposures; adjust pricing and terms as needed.
- Mentor and guide junior underwriters; contribute to knowledge sharing and team development.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal underwriting guidelines; maintain accurate files in the agency management system.
- Coordinate with claims, actuarial, and product teams to optimize risk selection and service quality.
- Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and client experience.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Risk Management, or a related field.
- 5+ years of commercial underwriting experience with a proven track record of profitable growth.
- In-depth knowledge of commercial lines products, endorsements, and rating methodologies.
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities; proficient in risk assessment and pricing strategies.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills; strong broker relationships.
- Experience with underwriting software and advanced Excel; comfortable with data analysis and reporting.
- Professional designations such as CPCU, CIC, or ARM are preferred.
- Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple files simultaneously.
