Lumina Gallery is seeking a visionary Senior Curator of Fine Arts to lead our exhibitions, collections, and public programming in New York City. The ideal candidate blends scholarly rigor with strategic vision, a passion for artists across media, and a track record of high-impact exhibitions.
As Senior Curator, you will shape the gallery’s curatorial direction, oversee acquisitions and provenance research, collaborate with lenders and artists, curate compelling catalogs, and mentor a small team of curatorial staff and interns. This is a high-visibility role that influences program strategy, donor relations, and community partnerships.

Responsibility
- Lead development and execution of innovative fine arts exhibitions and related programs that align with the gallery's mission.
- Oversee collection management, cataloging, provenance research, and conservation coordination with external experts.
- Develop acquisitions strategy and manage the curatorial budget, curating a cohesive, diverse collection.
- Collaborate with artists, lenders, sponsors, and institutions to secure loans and partnerships.
- Plan and implement education and public programs; coordinate with marketing, communications, and education teams.
- Manage a small curatorial team and interns, providing mentorship and performance feedback.
- Ensure compliance with professional ethics, standards, and accrediting bodies; advance best practices in cataloging and conservation.
Qualification
- Master’s degree in Art History, Fine Arts, or a related field; PhD preferred.
- 7+ years of curatorial experience in a gallery or museum setting, with a proven track record of successful exhibitions.
- Strong provenance research, scholarly writing, and cataloging experience.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and fundraising skills; experience with grants and sponsorships.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external partners; leadership and people-management experience.
- Familiarity with collection management systems (e.g., TMS) and digital cataloging practices.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
