Job description

Global Accord Institute (GAI) is seeking a strategic and seasoned Senior Diplomacy & International Relations Advisor to join our Washington, DC team. This role leads high-impact policy dialogue, bilateral engagements, and analytical briefings that influence international policy and public diplomacy strategies.

At GAI, you will collaborate with government partners, think tanks, and civil society to advance pragmatic, evidence-based diplomacy that promotes peace, security, and sustainable development.

Responsibility

  • Lead and coordinate diplomacy-focused research and policy analysis that informs advocacy and policy recommendations.
  • Design and manage high-level diplomatic dialogues, including bilateral meetings and multilateral negotiations.
  • Produce briefing papers, policy memos, and risk assessments for senior leadership and external partners.
  • Build and sustain relationships with government officials, international organizations, and civil society partners.
  • Develop strategic communication plans to articulate policy positions to diverse audiences.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams (research, comms, legal) to ensure timely, accurate policy outputs.
  • Present findings at conferences, panels, and policy briefings to advance GAI’s diplomatic agenda.

Qualification

  • Master’s degree or PhD in International Relations, Public Policy, Political Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years in diplomacy, government affairs, or international policy analysis.
  • Strong understanding of international law, treaty processes, and multilateral institutions.
  • Proven track record of successful negotiations and stakeholder engagement across government, academia, and civil society.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with ability to tailor complex concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and travel as needed.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in French or Spanish highly desirable.
