Job description
Join NovaVolt Technologies as a Senior Electrical Engineer focused on power electronics. You will design, simulate, and optimize high-performance electrical systems for next-generation energy solutions. This role blends hardware and software collaboration to deliver robust, scalable products from concept to production.
We offer a collaborative environment, competitive compensation, and opportunities to lead cutting-edge projects in the rapidly growing energy sector.
Responsibility
- Lead the design and development of power electronics systems, including converters, inverters, and motor drives.
- Own PCB layout and schematic capture using Altium Designer; perform design-for-test and DFMEA.
- Develop and verify models and simulations (SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink) to validate performance and thermal behavior.
- Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, and software teams to define requirements and deliverables.
- Create and execute comprehensive test plans, characterize prototypes, and drive design-for-cost initiatives.
- Review and ensure compliance with relevant standards (UL, IEC, EMC) and safety requirements.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to roadmap planning and technical decision-making.
Qualification
- Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering; Master's preferred; at least 5 years in power electronics or related field.
- Strong expertise in power electronics design, converters, control algorithms, and system-level integration.
- Proficiency with ECAD tools (Altium Designer, OrCAD) and circuit simulation (SPICE, PLECS).
- Hands-on experience with lab instrumentation (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, thermal chambers) and debugging hardware.
- Solid understanding of thermal management, reliability, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
- Familiarity with standards (UL/IEC), documentation practices, and product lifecycle processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication; ability to lead cross-functional teams and present complex concepts clearly.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% for supplier visits and customer engagements.
