Job description

NovaVolt Labs is seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to design, develop, and validate advanced electrical systems for high performance power electronics and automated control applications. This role blends hands on hardware development with system level engineering to deliver reliable, scalable solutions for our customers.

As part of our growing team in Houston, you will contribute to product design from concept to production, partnering with mechanical, software and quality teams to ensure top tier performance and safety compliance.

Responsibility

  • Design and analyze power electronics circuits, digital control, and analog interfaces for high-reliability products.
  • Develop schematics and PCBs using industry standard EDA tools; create test jigs and fixture requirements.
  • Simulate and validate designs using MATLAB Simulink and SPICE; perform data analysis to guide design decisions.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to define requirements, timelines and validation plans.
  • Conduct and document rigorous testing, including environmental, thermal and reliability assessments.
  • Prepare technical documentation, standards compliance and manufacturing instructions.
  • Support production and field technicians with troubleshooting and design improvements.
  • Mentor junior engineers and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; master's preferred.
  • 3-7 years of experience in electrical design, power electronics, and digital control systems.
  • Proficient in PCB design (Altium or OrCAD) and schematic capture; hands-on prototyping experience.
  • Experience with simulation tools (MATLAB Simulink, SPICE) and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with standards and compliance (IEC, UL, CE) and reliability testing.
  • Strong problem solving, communication and collaboration skills; ability to thrive in a fast paced, cross functional environment.
  • Ability to obtain US work authorization and willingness to travel up to 10-15% as needed.
  • Knowledge of programming (C C++ Python) and software hardware interface is a plus.
