EnergiaTech Solutions is seeking a Senior Electrical Power Engineer to lead design and optimization of electrical power systems for utility-scale projects in the Houston area. This role offers exposure to transmission and distribution, protective relaying, and renewable integration across utility-grade assets. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver safe, reliable, and code-compliant solutions.
In this role, you will drive technically rigorous engineering deliverables, mentor junior staff, and interface with clients and contractors to ensure successful project outcomes.
Responsibility
- Lead the design and analysis of electrical power systems for projects including substations, switchyards, and industrial facilities.
- Develop and coordinate protection schemes, relay settings, and arc-flash analysis in accordance with IEEE 1584 and relevant standards.
- Perform power system studies (load flow, short-circuit, transient analysis) using ETAP, PSS/E, DigSilent, or PSCAD.
- Prepare technical specifications, procurement support, and oversee field installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Ensure compliance with NEC, IEC, IEEE standards; develop and enforce safety and quality procedures.
- Collaborate with project managers, clients, and EPC contractors; provide technical leadership and deliver reviews.
- Mentor junior engineers and prepare engineering reports, client presentations, and commissioning handbooks.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; Master’s preferred; Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in electrical power systems, utilities, or renewable generation projects.
- Strong knowledge of power system analysis (load flow, short circuit, transient) and protective relaying.
- Proficiency with ETAP, PSS/E, DigSilent, PSCAD; MATLAB or Python for data analysis.
- Experience with protective relaying and SCADA systems; arc-flash risk assessment experience.
- Solid understanding of NEC, IEC, and IEEE standards; excellent technical documentation skills.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management abilities; ability to lead teams and interact with clients.
- Willingness to travel 15-20% as needed to support projects and commissioning.
