LumenGrid Technologies is a premier engineering firm delivering innovative electrical power solutions for utilities, renewable energy developers, and industrial clients. We are seeking a Senior Electrical Power Engineer to lead projects from concept through commissioning in the Houston area.
In this role you will design and optimize electrical power systems, protection and control schemes, and interconnection studies. You will collaborate with multi disciplinary teams and mentor junior engineers, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety requirements.

Responsibility
- Lead the design of electrical power systems for medium and high voltage projects including substations, switchgear, transformers, and protection schemes.
- Perform load flow, short circuit, transient stability, and arc flash analysis using ETAP, PSS/E, PSCAD, or equivalent tools.
- Develop protection, control, metering, and communication schemes for feeders and substations.
- Coordinate with civil, mechanical, and automation teams to ensure seamless integration with equipment, SCADA, and communication networks.
- Prepare technical specifications, review vendor drawings, and conduct factory and site acceptance testing.
- Ensure compliance with IEEE, NEC, NFPA, and local regulations; drive safety and quality assurance throughout project lifecycle.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and code compliant design reviews to junior engineers and designers.
- Support commissioning, performance validation, and post project optimization activities.
Qualification
- Bachelor or Master degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited program
- 5 or more years of hands-on experience in electrical power systems design for utilities, renewables, or industrial facilities
- Proficiency with electrical analysis and design tools such as ETAP, PSS/E, PSCAD, or equivalents
- Strong knowledge of protection and control principles, switchgear equipment, and protection coordination
- Experience with substation design, procurement, and construction support
- Professional Engineer PE license preferred; or ability to obtain PE license within specified timeframe
- Excellent communication, presentation, and project management skills; ability to lead diverse teams
- U.S. work authorization or eligibility to work in the United States
