Job description

NovaGrid Energy Solutions is seeking a Senior Electrical Power Systems Engineer to drive the design, analysis, and optimization of complex power systems for grid modernization and energy projects. This role blends engineering excellence with leadership in project delivery, client engagement, and advanced software tools.

As a key member of our power systems team, you will collaborate with cross-functional groups to deliver reliable, scalable, and compliant solutions for utility-scale and industrial clients.

Responsibility

  • Lead the electro-mechanical design and analysis of electrical power systems including distribution, generation, and transmission interfaces.
  • Perform short-circuit, protection coordination, arc-flash, and reliability analyses using ETAP, PSSE, SKM, or equivalent tools.
  • Model and simulate grid integration scenarios, renewable energy projects, and energy storage systems to optimize performance and safety.
  • Develop protective relay schemes, switchgear layouts, and cable routing drawings with AutoCAD Electrical or similar software.
  • Coordinate with clients, vendors, and internal teams to establish project scope, schedule, and budget; deliver high-quality documentation and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with NERC, IEEE, NEC, and local codes; support commissioning and field testing activities.
  • Mentor junior engineers, review designs, and contribute to firm-wide best practices and knowledge sharing.

Qualification

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field; PE license preferred or ability to obtain in TX.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in electrical power systems engineering for utility-scale, industrial, or renewable projects.
  • Strong proficiency with power system analysis tools ETAP, PSSE, DIGSILENT/PSCad and CAD tools.
  • Deep knowledge of protective relays, coordination, fault analysis, arc-flash, and NFPA 70E standards.
  • Experience with HV/LV design, cable sizing, switchgear, transformers, and grounding systems.
  • Excellent communication, project management, and client-facing skills; ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical mindset, meticulous attention to detail, and commitment to safety and quality.
