VoltEdge Power is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Power Systems Engineer to join our Houston-based team. You will design, analyze, and optimize electrical power systems for critical facilities and utility-scale projects. This role blends technical leadership with hands-on problem solving to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient power delivery.
As part of a multidisciplinary project group, you will model power networks, supervise protection schemes, and drive reliability improvements from concept through commissioning. Responsibility
- Lead the development and validation of power system designs for distribution and high voltage networks
- Perform load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, and reliability analyses
- Create and review protection schemes, relay settings, and coordination studies
- Collaborate with electrical, civil, and mechanical teams to deliver project milestones
- Size and specify equipment including transformers, switchgear, cables, and generators
- Support commissioning, startup, and field acceptance testing
- Ensure conformance with NEC, IEEE, NERC, IEC standards and safety requirements
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership on complex projects
Qualification
- Bachelor or Master degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 5+ years experience in electrical power systems design and analysis
- Proficiency with ETAP, PSS/E, Digsilent, SKM, MATLAB/Simulink
- Strong knowledge of protection coordination and relay settings
- Hands-on experience with high voltage equipment, switchgear, transformers, and generators
- Familiarity with NEC, NERC CIP, IEEE 519, IEC 61850
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and project leadership
- Eligible to work in the United States and willingness to travel up to 20%
