Job description

NovaDrive Automotive Solutions is seeking a Senior Electrical Systems Engineer to join our Detroit-based engineering team. This role focuses on development, integration, and validation of electrical architectures for next-generation electric vehicles.

In this position you will collaborate with software, power electronics, and vehicle integration teams to deliver robust, scalable ECUs and electrical subsystems that meet safety, reliability, and performance targets.

Responsibility

  • Lead the design, modeling, and validation of electrical architectures for EV propulsion and onboard systems.
  • Develop and verify ECU software interfaces, CAN/CAN-FD networks, and OTA update strategies.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, and test teams to define system requirements and verification plans.
  • Perform electrical safety analyses (ISO 26262) and support functional safety deliveries.
  • Lead system-level integration testing, bench tests, and vehicle commissioning.
  • Mentor junior engineers and drive best practices in design, documentation, and change management.
  • Publish technical documentation, test reports, and risk assessments for program reviews.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in automotive electrical systems, ECUs, and vehicle networks.
  • Strong proficiency with CAN/CAN-FD, LIN, Ethernet, and serial interfaces.
  • Hands-on experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, and C/C++ for model-based design and scripting.
  • Experience with ISO 26262 functional safety lifecycle and FMEA.
  • Proven track record in EV or automotive propulsion systems.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and project leadership skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment in Detroit.
