As a Senior Fisheries Scientist, you will lead stock assessments, coordinate field sampling, analyze data, and advise industry partners and regulators. You will collaborate with biologists, oceanographers, and policy specialists to translate complex data into actionable insights.

Responsibility
- Lead stock assessments and harvest projections to support sustainable management decisions.
- Design and oversee field sampling campaigns (trawl surveys, sampling at processing facilities, observer data) and ensure data quality.
- Analyze fisheries data using R, Python, and GIS tools; develop dashboards for stakeholders.
- Prepare technical reports, management advice, and regulatory submissions in collaboration with regulatory partners (NOAA/NMFS).
- Communicate complex findings to scientists, policymakers, fishery managers, and industry partners via presentations and written briefs.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and grant reporting; mentor junior staff and field technicians.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements during field operations.
Qualification
- Master's degree (or PhD) in Fisheries Science, Marine Biology, Ecology, or a closely related field.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in fisheries research, stock assessment, or ecosystem-based management.
- Strong data analytics skills (R and/or Python); experience with GIS and database management.
- Knowledge of U.S. fisheries regulations and NOAA/NMFS processes; experience with regulatory reporting is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to tailor messages for diverse audiences.
- Ability to work in remote field settings, travel to coastal communities, and operate in challenging weather conditions.
- Valid U.S. work authorization and a clean driving record; willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
