CanopyForge Forestry Solutions is seeking a results-driven Senior Forestry Field Operations Specialist to lead field operations, silviculture programs, and timber planning across western Canada’s forests. This role blends on-site leadership with data-driven decision making to ensure sustainable forest management, worker safety, and regulatory compliance. Responsibility
- Lead and coordinate field operations across multiple sites, ensuring safety and efficiency and alignment with harvest plans.
- Design and implement silvicultural treatments (thinning, pruning, stand improvement) per prescription and best practices.
- Monitor forest health, detect pests and diseases, and coordinate with RPFs and biologists for treatment actions.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation; track progress using KPIs and field data collection.
- Ensure compliance with provincial forestry regulations, environmental safeguards, and reporting requirements; maintain meticulous field notes and data logs.
- Engage with Indigenous communities and local stakeholders; communicate project goals, timelines, and outcomes with transparency.
- Utilize GIS-based mapping and data collection to support inventory updates, stand delineation, and asset management.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Natural Resources, or a related field; or equivalent field experience.
- Minimum 5 years of field forestry experience with demonstrated leadership in silviculture or timber operations.
- Registered Professional Forester (RPF) or eligibility to obtain RPF within 12 months in British Columbia.
- Strong knowledge of silvicultural prescriptions, measurement, cruise data, and growth and yield concepts.
- Proficiency with GIS (ArcGIS or QGIS), field data collection apps, and forest inventory systems.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and stakeholder engagement skills; proven ability to influence decisions at multiple levels.
- Willingness to travel between sites and work in varying field conditions; valid driver's license; safety-conscious mindset.
