Job description
TerraNova Energy is seeking a Senior Fossil Energy Engineer to lead the design, optimization, and deployment of world-class fossil energy projects. You will work with cross-functional teams to improve plant efficiency, reduce emissions, and ensure regulatory compliance across refineries, power generation, and gas processing facilities. This is a high-visibility role with responsibility for technical leadership, risk assessment, and project execution.
Responsibility
- Lead technical design and optimization of fossil energy systems including combustion, boilers, turbines, and gas processing facilities.
- Develop energy efficiency improvements and decarbonization strategies with quantified economic benefits.
- Perform thermo-economic analyses and process simulations using Aspen Plus, HYSYS, and CFD tools.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations and industry standards.
- Manage project scope, schedule, and budget; collaborate with clients, contractors, and suppliers.
- Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge transfer across teams.
- Prepare technical proposals, risk assessments, and present findings to stakeholders.
- Evaluate new technologies such as carbon capture, utilization, and storage integration and advanced catalysts.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or chemical engineering; MS preferred. PE license highly desirable.
- 8+ years in fossil energy, power generation, or refining environments.
- Strong expertise in process simulation with Aspen Plus or HYSYS; familiarity with CFD and heat transfer.
- Deep knowledge of environmental regulations and HSE practices; track record of safe, compliant project delivery.
- Experience with carbon capture, emissions controls, and decarbonization initiatives.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
- Ability to travel up to 25-30 percent as needed and work with multinational teams.
