Horizon Energy Partners is seeking a Senior Fossil Energy Engineer to lead reservoir optimization and production analytics across our onshore and offshore assets based in Houston, TX. You will collaborate with geoscientists, process engineers, drilling, and safety teams to drive safe, efficient operations while advancing strategic initiatives in fossil energy.
In this role, you will leverage state-of-the-art simulation tools, data analytics, and best practices to maximize recovery, manage risk, and reduce environmental impact.
Responsibility
- Lead reservoir engineering analyses to optimize production and recoveries across multiple assets.
- Develop and implement enhanced oil recovery (EOR) strategies, including chemical, thermal, and gas-assisted methods.
- Build and calibrate reservoir models; run dynamic simulations to forecast production and plan field development.
- Collaborate with geoscience, drilling, completion, and facilities teams to optimize well spacing, artificial lift, and facilities sizing.
- Ensure adherence to HSE standards and regulatory requirements; drive risk assessment and safe operating practices.
- Analyze production data, KPIs, and workflow performance; present insights to senior leadership and cross-functional partners.
- Identify and lead technical optimization projects; evaluate new analytics tools, digitalization initiatives, and process improvements.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to project teams.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a closely related field; Master's degree preferred.
- 5+ years of reservoir engineering experience in fossil energy; EOR experience is a plus.
- Proficiency with reservoir simulation software (e.g., Eclipse, CMG, PetroMod) and data analytics tools.
- Strong skills in production forecasting, decline curve analysis, and history matching.
- Solid understanding of HSE regulations and industry standards (API, OSHA) and safe operating practices.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills with ability to influence cross-functional teams.
- Project management capabilities and a track record of delivering on-time, within-budget initiatives.
