TerraNova Energy invites a Senior Fossil Energy Engineer to join our Houston-based team. This role blends technical leadership with hands-on project delivery, collaborating with cross-functional teams to turn ambitious engineering concepts into practical, safe, and compliant assets.
Responsibility
- Lead the multidisciplinary design and delivery of fossil energy projects, ensuring safety, reliability, and environmental compliance.
- Develop feasibility studies, CAPEX estimates, and detailed engineering deliverables for upstream, midstream, and refining initiatives.
- Model process performance using Aspen Plus/HYSYS or equivalent tools; optimize energy efficiency and emissions.
- Coordinate with procurement, construction, and operations to ensure on-time, on-budget execution and startup readiness.
- Lead risk assessments, permit strategies, and regulatory compliance (EPA, state agencies, industry standards).
- Mentor junior engineers, contribute to technical standards, and drive knowledge-sharing throughout the organization.
- Advance carbon capture, utilization, and enhanced oil recovery (EOR) concepts where applicable, supporting decarbonization goals.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering; Master’s preferred. PE license is a plus.
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in fossil energy projects (oil & gas, refining, or power generation).
- Proficiency with process simulation and design tools (Aspen Plus/HYSYS, PFD/P&ID tooling, CAD/CAE).
- Strong knowledge of codes and standards (ASME, API, NFPA) and HSE regulatory frameworks.
- Demonstrated project leadership, budget/ schedules management, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills; ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Willingness to travel 10-15% and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is preferred.
