Join Apex Energy Solutions, a premier provider of fossil energy project delivery, as a Senior Fossil Energy Project Engineer in Houston, TX. You will lead technically challenging projects from FEED through commissioning, delivering safe, compliant, and cost-effective energy solutions. In this role, you will partner with operations, procurement, and regulatory teams to optimize design, schedule, and budget while maintaining the highest standards of process safety and environmental stewardship.
Responsibility
- Lead end-to-end project execution for fossil energy facilities, including FEED, detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and performance testing.
- Develop and maintain CAPEX and OPEX estimates, schedules, and risk registers; monitor progress and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with HSE standards, permits, and regulatory requirements (EPA, OSHA, state agencies), and drive a strong safety culture.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams and external contractors to optimize design, procurement, and construction activities to meet project objectives.
- Manage vendor qualification, contracting, scope definition, change management, and performance oversight.
- Drive process safety, reliability improvements, debottlenecking, and root cause analysis for plant performance.
- Oversee quality assurance, document control, and reporting; lead FEED and early-phase studies with a focus on value engineering.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or a related field; Master’s preferred.
- 8+ years of experience leading fossil energy projects (oil and gas, refining, or power) with a track record of delivering on time and within budget.
- Proven FEED-to-commissioning project management experience; strong technical leadership and collaboration skills.
- Professional certification such as PMP or PE license is preferred.
- Proficiency with Primavera P6, MS Project, and ERP systems (e.g., SAP) for scheduling and cost control.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and stakeholder management; ability to travel 20–30% as needed.
- Knowledge of process safety (HAZOP, LOPA), and industry codes (ASME, API, NFPA).
