Job description

TerraNova Geoscience is seeking a Senior Geologist to lead field-based exploration programs and partner with our multidisciplinary teams in the Denver region. This role combines hands-on geology with strategic resource modelling to advance high-potential projects.

As a key member of the exploration team, you will drive geological mapping, sample collection, core logging, and data integration to deliver high-quality resource estimates and project plans. You will mentor junior geologists and collaborate with engineers, environmental specialists, and geotechnical teams to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations.

We offer a dynamic work environment, competitive compensation, and opportunities for career progression within a growing, research-driven geoscience company.

Responsibility

  • Lead and supervise field geological programs, including mapping, sampling, logging, and core descriptions.
  • Develop, test, and refine 3D geological models and resource estimates using industry-standard software.
  • Plan and oversee drill programs; coordinate with contractors and internal teams to ensure quality and safety.
  • Interpret assay data, integrate with structural geology, and contribute to resource calculations and feasibility studies.
  • Prepare technical reports, maps, and presentations for stakeholders, regulators, and investors.
  • Mentor and train junior geologists; promote best practices in data management, QA/QC, and HSE.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with mining engineers, environmental specialists, and GIS analysts to optimize exploration outcomes and project timelines.

Qualification

  • Master's degree or PhD in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a closely related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in mineral exploration or geological modelling in a real-world setting.
  • Proficiency with GIS and 3D modelling tools (ArcGIS, Leapfrog, Vulcan, Micromine) and familiarity with resource estimation workflows.
  • Strong field-based experience, core logging, and sample collection; familiarity with drill programs and mine permitting is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to produce clear technical reports and presentations for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities; ability to manage field crews and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel and work in remote or adverse field conditions; commitment to safety and regulatory compliance (MSHA/OSHA).
  • Publication, data management, or QA/QC experience is an advantage.
