As a Senior Industrial Relations Specialist, you will work closely with executive leadership to design and implement strategic IR initiatives, manage collective bargaining processes, and provide expert guidance on change management, workplace relations, and dispute resolution.

Responsibility

  • Lead the development and execution of the organisation's industrial relations strategy across multiple sites.
  • Lead and manage collective bargaining agreements (enterprise agreements) and negotiate terms with trade unions and employees.
  • Provide strategic advice to executives and HR on employment law, risk management, and workplace relations.
  • Oversee dispute resolution, grievance handling, and discipline processes in line with legal requirements and policy.
  • Ensure compliance with the Fair Work Act 2009, modern awards, and applicable industrial instruments.
  • Design and deliver training for managers on IR best practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with operations to support change management, restructures, and workforce planning.
  • Monitor IR metrics and report to leadership to drive continuous improvement.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, HR, Business, or related field. Master’s preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of industrial relations or employment law experience in a complex organisation.
  • Proven track record in collective bargaining and union negotiations.
  • Strong knowledge of the Fair Work Act 2009, modern awards, and related legislation.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to analyse, interpret, and present data to drive decisions.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% and work across multiple sites in Australia.
