As a Senior Insurance Underwriter, you will assess risks, determine coverage terms, and ensure profitability while delivering exceptional client service.
Responsibility
- Underwrite complex commercial and personal lines within delegated authority
- Analyze risk data, exposures, and pricing to determine terms
- Collaborate with brokers and agents to structure coverage and assist in submissions
- Develop and maintain underwriting guidelines, rating plans, and risk assessment tools
- Mentor junior underwriters, review decision quality, and provide training
- Monitor portfolio performance, loss runs, and trends; adjust strategies as needed
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field; actuarial or CPCU preferred
- 5+ years of underwriting experience in commercial or personal lines
- Strong knowledge of rating systems, exposures, and insurance products
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and communication skills
- Ability to negotiate terms with brokers and clients
- Proficiency with underwriting systems and data analytics tools
- Professional certifications such as CPCU, FALU preferred
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment and manage competing deadlines
