Responsibility
- Lead underwriting decisions for commercial lines, ensuring profitability, compliance, and consistency with underwriting guidelines.
- Analyze risk profiles, develop and update pricing models, and craft clear conditions and endorsements.
- Collaborate with sales, brokers, and clients to structure complex policies and align coverage with client needs.
- Monitor portfolio performance, set risk targets, and implement loss-prevention strategies.
- Mentor junior underwriters, review complex submissions, and deliver targeted training.
- Leverage data analytics and automation to streamline underwriting workflows and improve decision speed.
- Maintain regulatory compliance and audit readiness across states and markets, including Lloydâs considerations when applicable.
Qualification
- Bachelorâs degree in Finance, Economics, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, or progress toward certification.
- 5+ years of underwriting experience in commercial or complex personal lines.
- Proficiency with underwriting platforms, data analysis tools, and SQL/Excel for portfolio optimization.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage high-volume submissions with attention to accuracy and detail.
- Knowledge of policy wording, rating plans, and regulatory requirements; experience with multi-channel markets is a plus.
