Responsibility
- Lead underwriting analysis for complex commercial lines, including property, casualty, and specialty programs.
- Review coverage forms, rating methodologies, and exposure to ensure accurate pricing and terms.
- Collaborate with brokers, product, and claims teams to assess risk and determine optimal coverage.
- Develop and maintain underwriting guidelines, pricing strategies, and risk control measures.
- Mentor and train junior underwriters; participate in knowledge-sharing sessions and process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls; document rationale for decisions.
- Monitor portfolio performance, trend analysis, and loss development to drive continuous improvement.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in risk management, finance, business, or related field.
- 5+ years of commercial lines underwriting experience; specialty lines a plus.
- Strong knowledge of insurance laws, regulatory frameworks, and policy wording.
- Analytical mindset with demonstrated risk assessment and decision-making capabilities.
- Proficiency with underwriting systems, data analytics tools, and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and broker relationship management skills.
- Ability to mentor colleagues and work collaboratively across functions.
- CPCU or similar professional designation preferred.
