Responsibility

  • Evaluate complex risks and determine appropriate terms and pricing using established guidelines
  • Underwrite new and renewal business across commercial lines while maintaining risk controls
  • Collaborate with brokers, agents, and clients to gather information and explain coverage options
  • Mentor and coach junior underwriters, provide guidance on complex cases
  • Review and approve endorsements, policy changes, and cancellations in a timely manner
  • Analyze loss history, exposures, and data trends to optimize pricing and profitability
  • Partner with Claims, Actuarial, and Product teams to refine underwriting standards
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies

Qualification

  • Bachelor degree in Finance, Economics, Risk Management, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of underwriting experience in property and casualty or multi-line insurance
  • Strong analytical and pricing skills with proficiency in rating engines and underwriting software (Guidewire preferred)
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities with brokers and clients
  • Ability to manage complex cases, prioritize, and meet deadlines
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and risk management practices
  • Professional license or designation such as CPCU, ARM, or API preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office; data analytics experience is a plus
