Responsibility
- Lead end-to-end underwriting for complex commercial and personal lines, assessing risk and determining policy terms.
- Collaborate with producers, brokers, and actuaries to develop tailored coverage that balances client needs with company risk appetite.
- Review and approve quotes, endorsements, and renewals with accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Mentor junior underwriters and contribute to training programs to raise team performance.
- Analyze portfolio performance using data analytics and underwriting systems to optimize profitability.
- Monitor market trends and competitive landscape to adjust underwriting guidelines and pricing strategies.
- Support claims investigations by providing timely, accurate coverage interpretations.
- Ensure adherence to internal risk controls and external regulatory requirements.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in finance, actuarial science, economics, or related field; advanced credentials (CPCU, CUIM, FCAS) preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of underwriting experience in commercial or personal lines, with a proven track record of profitable risk selection.
- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills, including proficiency with Excel and underwriting software.
- Experience with data-driven risk assessment, pricing models, and familiarity with SQL or similar query tools is a plus.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities; client-focused mindset with broker relationships.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements, policy forms, and coverage terminology; ability to draft clear policy language.
- Team leadership experience or mentoring capabilities; collaborative, results-oriented approach.
