Responsibility

  • Evaluate and underwrite property and casualty insurance applications, ensuring profitability, risk controls, and adherence to company guidelines.
  • Review coverage forms and policy endorsements, interpreting regulatory requirements and exclusions.
  • Collaborate with brokers, clients, and internal teams to gather information and tailor policy terms to risk profile.
  • Perform data driven risk analysis using underwriting software, Excel, and SQL to inform pricing decisions.
  • Develop and communicate pricing strategies, exposure limits, and terms with stakeholders.
  • Maintain thorough file documentation, audit trails, and regulatory compliance across all cases.
  • Stay informed on market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory changes impacting underwriting.

Qualification

  • Bachelor degree in finance, risk management, insurance, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of property and casualty underwriting experience.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to assess risk and make data driven decisions.
  • Proficiency with underwriting systems and data analysis tools (for example SQL, Excel, and common policy administration software).
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills to interact with brokers and clients.
  • Active state insurance license or ability to obtain license within six months.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, policy terms, and coverage options for P&C.
