Job description

Join Lumen & Co. Interiors, a premium New York City interior design studio specializing in high-end residential and boutique commercial spaces. We are seeking a Senior Interior Designer to lead design concepts, drive FF&E strategizing, and deliver projects from concept through construction documentation. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with a refined eye for materiality, color, and space planning, and a collaborative mindset to guide clients, consultants, and contractors toward world-class outcomes.

What you bring: a strong portfolio of luxury interiors, hands-on experience with client presentations, and a track record of managing multiple design phases simultaneously. You will work closely with a cross-disciplinary team to translate client visions into sophisticated, functional spaces that celebrate light, texture, and form.

Responsibility

  • Lead design development for luxury residential and boutique commercial projects from concept through construction documentation.
  • Create and manage FF&E specifications, finishes, color palettes, lighting, and accessories.
  • Develop 2D and 3D drawings (plans, elevations, sections) using CAD/BIM tools; produce polished presentation materials for clients.
  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and vendors to ensure design intent is realized on-site; conduct site visits.
  • Oversee project schedules and budgets, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to design standards.
  • Mentor junior designers, review work, and foster a collaborative design culture.
  • Prepare and present design narratives and mood boards for client approvals and design reviews.

Qualification

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interior Design or related field; professional licensure preferred.
  • 5+ years of interior design experience, with a portfolio of high-end residential or boutique commercial projects.
  • Proficiency in CAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Photoshop; strong technical drawing and documentation skills.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and client-relations abilities; ability to translate client briefs into design concepts.
  • Deep knowledge of materials, FF&E sourcing, lighting, and sustainable design practices.
  • Familiarity with building codes, permits, and construction administration processes; strong vendor relationships.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
