Job description
Lumina Interiors is seeking a Senior Interior Designer to lead high-end residential and boutique commercial projects in the New York City area. This role blends creative leadership with meticulous project management to deliver spaces that are both stunning and highly functional.
As a core member of the design team, you will collaborate with clients, architects, and contractors to translate concept into construction ready plans, specifications and finishes. You will mentor junior designers, oversee design development, and ensure on time, on budget delivery while maintaining the highest design standards.
Responsibility
- Lead and manage multiple design projects from concept through construction administration.
- Develop concept sketches, floor plans, elevations, and 3D representations for client review.
- Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to define the design vision, program, and budget.
- Coordinate with vendors, procurement teams, and contractors to manage schedules and costs.
- Maintain design documentation, specifications, and drawing packages in coordination with architects and engineers.
- Mentor junior designers and guide junior team members through the design process.
- Present concepts to clients, iterate based on feedback, and ensure on-time delivery of high-quality spaces.
Qualification
- BA/BFA in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field; professional license preferred.
- 5+ years of interior design experience, with a strong portfolio of luxury residential or boutique commercial projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and 3D visualization tools; strong drawing and rendering skills.
- Deep knowledge of materials, finishes, lighting, acoustics, and acoustical strategies.
- Excellent client communication and presentation skills; ability to translate client needs into design concepts.
- Strong project management, budgeting, and scheduling abilities; ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of building codes, accessibility standards, and construction documentation; LEED or WELL certification is a plus.
