Job description

Lumina Studio Interiors is seeking a Senior Interior Designer to join our NYC studio. We deliver high-end residential and commercial interiors with a focus on timeless elegance, sustainable materials, and client-centered collaboration.

In this role, you will lead design development from concept to construction documents, mentor junior designers, coordinate with clients, consultants, and vendors, and manage project timelines and budgets. You will translate client visions into provocative, executable design schemes while maintaining rigorous attention to detail and code compliance.

Responsibility

  • Lead design development from concept to construction documents for luxury residential and commercial projects.
  • Develop and present concept boards, space plans, material selections, and lighting strategies that align with client goals and brand.
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, and vendors to ensure timely, on-budget delivery.
  • Oversee site visits, revisions, and field coordination during construction administration.
  • Mentor and guide junior designers; participate in talent recruitment and performance reviews.
  • Ensure design solutions comply with applicable codes, standards, and accessibility requirements.
  • Prepare accurate project documentation, specifications, and presentation materials.
  • Maintain strong aesthetic and technical quality while balancing feasibility and client expectations.

Qualification

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interior Design or Architecture from an accredited program.
  • 7+ years of professional interior design experience, with synthesis of luxury residential and commercial projects.
  • Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Photoshop/Illustrator) and BIM workflows.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating concept development, detailing, and project execution.
  • Excellent client-facing communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of building codes, accessibility standards, and sustainability practices (LEED/WELL familiarity a plus).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with a collaborative mindset and leadership capabilities.
