Join Aster & Loom Interiors, a premium studio crafting luxury residential and boutique commercial spaces across Manhattan and beyond. We are seeking a Senior Interior Designer who leads creative concepting, space planning, materials selection, and coordinated documentation from schematic design through construction administration.
In this role, you will mentor junior designers, partner with architects and consultants, and translate client aspirations into cohesive, highly executed environments. Our ideal candidate is design-led, detail-focused, and thrives in a fast-paced studio that values craft, sustainability, and client relationships.
Responsibility
- Lead concept development, schematic design, and design development for residential and small-scale commercial projects.
- Develop and refine space plans, materials palettes, lighting strategies, and finishes that align with client goals and budget.
- Produce and coordinate construction documents, FF&E schedules, and detailed specifications.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and consultants to ensure design intent is realized in construction.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, procurement, and on-site site visits during construction administration.
- Present concepts to clients, manage revisions, and maintain excellent client relationships.
- Mentor and supervise junior designers, providing feedback and design direction.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field.
- Minimum 5-7 years of professional interior design experience, with a strong portfolio of luxury residential and boutique commercial projects.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp or Rhino, with strong 2D/3D presentation skills.
- Excellent knowledge of building codes, accessibility, and construction detailing.
- Strong client-facing communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Experience leading projects from concept to construction with budget management.
- Detail-oriented with excellent time management and organizational abilities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative studio environment and mentor junior staff.
