Responsibility
- Provide high-quality consecutive and simultaneous interpretation for conferences, meetings, legal proceedings, medical consultations, and corporate events.
- Develop, maintain, and apply specialized glossaries and terminology databases to ensure accuracy across industries.
- Set up and operate interpretation equipment (booths, headsets, microphones) and coordinate with event staff and clients.
- Deliver impartial, culturally aware interpretations while upholding strict confidentiality and professional ethics.
- Conduct pre-event briefings with clients and speakers to clarify context, terminology, and objectives.
- Offer sight translation and on-site linguistic support as needed, including document interpretation and summary notes.
- Collaborate with project managers to manage schedules, allocate resources, and ensure client satisfaction.
- Provide post-event debriefs and continuous quality improvements based on feedback and self-review.
Qualification
- Native or professional fluency in English plus at least two additional languages (e.g., Mandarin, Malay, Tamil, or other regional languages).
- Minimum 5 years of professional interpretation experience in at least two settings (conferences, legal, medical, or corporate).
- Proven ability to perform both consecutive and simultaneous interpretation with high accuracy and speed.
- Strong note-taking skills, memory retention, and rapid terminology development.
- Experience with interpretation equipment and booth setup; familiarity with AV/tech requirements for events.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and client-facing professionalism.
- Understanding of ethics, confidentiality, and industry best practices; AIIC or equivalent certification is a plus.
