Join Verdant & Co. Legal Advisory as a Senior Legal Consultant. We collaborate with Fortune 500 clients across technology, healthcare, and financial services to drive regulatory-compliant strategies and high-stakes contract workflows.
We are seeking a proactive, client-facing professional who can translate complex legal requirements into actionable guidance, redline agreements, and scalable compliance programs.
This role supports a hybrid work model based in New York City with occasional travel to client sites.
Responsibility
- Provide strategic legal advice on regulatory compliance, risk assessment, and governance for multiple clients across industries.
- Draft, negotiate, and review complex contracts, data processing agreements, and vendor terms with a focus on risk mitigation.
- Lead regulatory impact assessments (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA where applicable) and implement compliant controls.
- Develop and deliver client-ready policies, playbooks, and training materials to implement best practices.
- Manage and mentor junior consultants; coordinate with cross-functional teams (product, security, privacy, and operations).
- Perform due diligence for partnerships, M&A, and licensing projects; prepare concise summary reports for stakeholders.
- Track project milestones, budgets, and deliverables; communicate progress to clients and internal leadership.
- Represent the firm in client meetings, negotiations, and regulatory inquiries with professionalism and integrity.
Qualification
- Jurist Doctor (JD) or comparable law degree; active bar admission in the United States (or equivalent jurisdiction).
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in legal consulting, regulatory compliance, or contract management.
- Strong draftsmanship and negotiation skills; ability to translate legal concepts into practical business guidance.
- Proven experience with data privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA) and cross-border regulatory considerations.
- Excellent client management, communication, and presentation abilities; comfortable leading client workshops and trainings.
- Analytical thinking with robust research skills and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple engagements concurrently.
- Experience with risk assessment methods, due diligence, and vendor management; proficiency with MS Office and legal tech tools.
