NovaLex Advisory is seeking a Senior Legal Consultant to deliver high-impact regulatory and compliance advice to our enterprise clients. This role blends strategic counsel, risk assessment, policy development, and hands-on project execution across multiple industries including technology, finance, and life sciences.
As a trusted advisor, you will help clients design and implement effective governance, privacy programs, and cross-border compliance frameworks, translating complex laws into practical business solutions.
Responsibility
- Provide strategic legal counsel on regulatory compliance, risk assessment, and governance frameworks for diverse clients.
- Lead regulatory readiness assessments, remediation plans, and ongoing compliance programs.
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts, policies, and compliance documentation.
- Advise on data privacy, security, and privacy program development (GDPR, CCPA, and related frameworks).
- Manage cross-border regulatory matters, sanctions, anti-corruption (FCPA/UKBA) and trade compliance initiatives.
- Engage with clients in C-suite meetings, deliver executive-level findings, and present actionable remediation steps.
- Mentor junior team members, develop playbooks, and contribute to business development pursuits.
- Collaborate with internal teams to scale compliant solutions and improve the client experience.
Qualification
- J.D. or equivalent; admission to practice in NY or permission to practice in NY.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in legal consulting, regulatory compliance, or corporate governance.
- Deep knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, FINRA, SEC, FCPA, AML and related regulatory regimes.
- Strong analytical, drafting, negotiation, and communication skills; client-facing experience required.
- Proven track record managing complex engagements with senior stakeholders; project management skills a must.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple engagements, and travel as needed.
- Certifications such as CCEP, CIPP, or equivalent are a plus.
