Veritas Legal Consulting is seeking a seasoned Senior Legal Consultant to join our New York practice. In this role, you will provide strategic regulatory and compliance guidance to financial services, technology, and multinational clients. You will lead complex advisory engagements, shape governance programs, and mentor junior consultants. Responsibility
- Lead and deliver complex regulatory and compliance engagements for financial services, tech, and corporate clients.
- Perform risk assessments, due diligence, and gap analyses; develop pragmatic remediation roadmaps.
- Draft and refine policies, standards, control frameworks, and governance documentation; advise on board-level reporting.
- Provide guidance on data privacy, cybersecurity, and relevant regulatory regimes (e.g., state privacy laws, cross-border transfers).
- Manage client relationships, define scope, timelines, and budgets; monitor progress and communicate status.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (privacy, IT, procurement) and mentor junior staff.
- Support business development through proposals, thought leadership, and client workshops.
Qualification
- JD or equivalent law degree; admitted to practice in NY or eligible to waive in with substantial experience.
- 7+ years of legal consulting, regulatory affairs, or in-house compliance experience, preferably in financial services or tech.
- In-depth knowledge of US regulatory frameworks (SEC, CFTC, FINRA, NYDFS) and familiarity with global privacy standards (GDPR/CCPA).
- Proven ability to translate complex legal requirements into actionable recommendations and governance programs.
- Excellent drafting, research, negotiation, and communication skills; experience with policy development.
- Strong client management and project leadership abilities; track record of delivering high-impact engagements on time and within budget.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; proficient with legal research tools.
