HarborPeak Legal Partners is seeking a seasoned Legal Consultant to advise and support clients on regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and strategic risk management.
This role blends advisory work with practical contract review, policy development, and hands-on project leadership. You will collaborate with clients across industries, translate complex regulations into actionable guidance, and help shape their long-term legal strategy.
Responsibility
- Provide proactive regulatory guidance and compliance strategy for clients across industries, including privacy, securities, labor, and consumer protection.
- Review, draft, and negotiate commercial contracts, licenses, and critical agreements to mitigate risk and protect client interests.
- Conduct risk assessments, due diligence, and remediation planning related to transactions, audits, and investigations.
- Develop and implement comprehensive compliance programs, policies, training materials, and ongoing monitoring processes.
- Monitor evolving regulatory developments and deliver clear briefings with practical recommendations to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external counsel to manage complex matters and readiness for litigation.
- Lead client workshops, trainings, and board level briefings, translating legal concepts into business decisions.
- Support M&A activities with integration planning, contracts review, and regulatory clearance support.
Qualification
- Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree; active bar admission in the United States (NY bar or eligible).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in legal consulting, regulatory compliance, or corporate governance.
- Strong knowledge of applicable regulations (privacy, data protection, securities, antitrust, employment).
- Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills; ability to explain complex concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work independently as well as cross functional teams.
- Experience with policy development, training design, and risk based decision making.
- Proficiency with legal research tools and contract management systems; attention to detail and high ethical standards.
