Join NovaQuant Analytics as a Senior Mathematics Research Scientist. This role blends deep theoretical mathematics with practical, data-driven solutions that impact product strategy and business outcomes. Based in Cambridge, MA, you will lead mathematical modeling, analytical method development, and collaboration with data science, engineering, and product teams.
We’re looking for independent researchers who can translate abstract mathematical concepts into scalable, robust solutions and communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. This position offers the opportunity to publish, prototype, and evolve methodologies that drive real-world impact.
Responsibility
- Lead development of advanced mathematical models and algorithms to solve high-impact problems across finance, engineering, and data science.
- Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and product teams to translate theory into production-ready solutions.
- Develop and validate numerical methods, simulations, and optimization routines for large-scale problems.
- Analyze large, complex datasets to derive insights and inform strategic decisions.
- Mentor junior researchers and contribute to a collaborative, high-performance research culture.
- Prepare technical reports and present findings to internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to publications, technical blogs, and IP development where applicable.
Qualification
- PhD in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field; or a Master's degree with 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Strong foundation in numerical analysis, optimization, probability, and stochastic processes.
- Proficiency in Python; experience with MATLAB or R; knowledge of C++ is a plus.
- Experience with large-scale simulations, HPC, and scientific computing frameworks.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex ideas to non-technical audiences.
- Track record of independent research and collaboration; publications or patents are a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
