Job description
QuantaNova Labs is seeking a Senior Quantum Physics Research Scientist to join our interdisciplinary team in Cambridge, MA. You will lead experimental programs in quantum systems, collaborate with theorists, and mentor graduate researchers.
We offer state-of-the-art facilities, competitive compensation, and a pathway to impact at scale.
Responsibility
- Lead the design and execution of experiments in quantum systems (superconducting qubits, trapped ions, or ultracold atoms).
- Develop and validate measurement protocols, data acquisition, calibration, and error analysis.
- Build and maintain experimental apparatus, cryogenics, and control software.
- Analyze data using Python, MATLAB, or Julia; interpret results and prepare publications.
- Collaborate with theorists to model experiments and identify new directions.
- Mentor graduate students and postdocs; contribute to grant writing and project leadership.
- Present results at internal seminars and external conferences.
Qualification
- PhD in Physics or a closely related field with a strong experimental background in quantum physics
- Track record of peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations
- Proficiency in scientific programming (Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW) and data analysis
- Hands-on experience with cryogenics, vacuum systems, and low-temperature measurements
- Knowledge of quantum information processing, superconducting circuits, trapped ions, or ultracold atoms
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaborative skills
- Ability to design, troubleshoot, and maintain complex laboratory setups; mentoring experience is a plus
