Job description
Join Apex Motion Systems, a leader in precision motion and robotics. We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to drive the design and validation of innovative mechanical systems from concept to production. This is a hands-on role requiring strong collaboration with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
In this role, you will apply your technical expertise to deliver robust, manufacturable solutions that meet performance, cost, and schedule targets.
Responsibility
- Lead the complete mechanical design lifecycle from concept through production release for high-precision motion systems.
- Develop and optimize 3D CAD models and detailed drawings using SolidWorks and Creo.
- Perform FEA, tolerance analysis, DFMEA, and design verification testing to validate performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with electrical, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure robust interfaces and manufacturability.
- Create and execute test plans, document results, and drive design iteration based on data.
- Coordinate with suppliers for components, prototyping, and design for manufacturability strategies.
- Lead design reviews, risk assessments, and documentation in compliance with quality standards (QMS/ISO).
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to project planning and timeline management.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master’s preferred.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in product development for precision mechanical systems (aerospace/robotics/medical devices).
- Strong proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo) and FEA software (ANSYS or similar).
- Solid understanding of GD&T, DFMEA, tolerance analysis, and design for manufacturability.
- Experience with rapid prototyping, machining, and additive manufacturing processes.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines and with external suppliers.
