Join Apex Motion Technologies, a premier innovator in precision motion systems, as a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Chicago. You will lead the mechanical design and validation of high-performance equipment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring products from concept to production.
We seek a forward-thinking engineer who combines solid fundamentals in mechanical design with hands-on experience in manufacturing environments. This is a hands-on role that offers strategic influence and rapid impact.
Responsibility
- Lead the design, analysis, and optimization of mechanical systems from concept through production release.
- Develop and maintain 3D models and detailed drawings using SolidWorks or Creo.
- Perform FEA/CFD simulations to validate performance and durability.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, sourcing, and quality teams to implement robust, cost-effective solutions.
- Own GD&T practices, tolerancing, and stack-up analysis for assemblies.
- Manage project timelines, risks, and change control in PLM environment.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to design reviews and documentation.
Qualification
- Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master's preferred
- Minimum 5 years of mechanical design and development experience
- Proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks or Creo with strong 3D modeling skills
- Experience with FEA software (ANSYS or equivalent) and basic CFD
- Experience with GD&T, tolerancing, and design for manufacturability
- Strong collaboration, communication, and project management abilities
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials selection, and prototyping
- Excellent problem-solving and documentation skills
