Job description
We are seeking a driven Senior Mechanical Engineer to join Apex Innovations Engineering in Chicago, IL. This is a premium role for a hands-on engineer who thrives on designing robust products from concept to production. You will lead cross-functional projects, influence design decisions, and mentor junior engineers.
As part of our dynamic team, you will shape mechanical architectures, validate performance, and drive innovative solutions that meet cost, reliability, and schedule targets.
Responsibility
- Lead end-to-end mechanical system design from concept through production release.
- Develop and manage CAD models, drawings, and BOMs using SolidWorks, Creo, or CATIA.
- Perform FEA/CFD analyses, tolerance stack-ups, reliability assessments, and FMEA.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and supply chain to implement DFM/DFA best practices.
- Define testing protocols, oversee validation and verification, and document results.
- Mentor junior engineers and supervise project milestones, budgets, and risk management.
- Drive design optimization for cost, weight, and manufacturability.
- Support product data management and cross-functional reviews with stakeholders.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master’s preferred.
- 5+ years of mechanical design experience in product development or automotive/industrial sectors.
- Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, or CATIA) and PLM systems.
- Strong knowledge of FEA/CFD, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and prototyping.
- Experience with manufacturing processes, quality systems, and supplier collaboration.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- US work authorization or visa permissibility for employment in the United States.
