Job description

At Apex Therapeutics, we are seeking a Senior Medical Science Liaison focused on Specialized Medicine and rare disease programs. You will serve as a scientific bridge between research teams and healthcare professionals, shaping evidence-generation strategies and ensuring compliant, ethics-driven engagements.

In this field-based role, you will collaborate with Clinical Development, Regulatory, and Commercial colleagues to advance patient access, educate on therapeutic options, and translate complex data into actionable insights. Expect robust collaboration, global cross-functional exposure, and travel to conferences and investigator meetings.

Responsibility

  • Develop and execute strategic MSL plans for rare disease programs, aligning Medical Affairs with Clinical Development and Commercial teams.
  • Educate and engage KOLs, physicians, and study investigators on product data, safety profiles, and ongoing trials with high scientific integrity.
  • Provide balanced medical information, respond to medical inquiries, and support publication planning and advisory board activities.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to inform evidence generation, study design inputs, and lifecycle management strategies.
  • Train field teams and internal stakeholders on disease areas, mechanism of action, and competitive landscape.
  • Capture and analyze medical insights from field interactions; synthesize data for medical strategy and safety signal detection.
  • Represent the company at national and international conferences, symposia, and investigator meetings.
  • Ensure compliant, ethical engagement in all activities and travel up to 60% as required.

Qualification

  • MD, DO, PhD, or PharmD in life sciences with clinical exposure to specialized medicine or rare diseases.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an MSL or in Medical Affairs within pharma/biotech or equivalent setting.
  • Deep knowledge of orphan diseases, clinical trial concepts, and regulatory considerations in specialty therapeutics.
  • Proven track record of KOL engagement, scientific presenting, and credible field-based communications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, storytelling, and presentation skills across diverse audiences.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration, analytical thinking, and ability to operate in a fast-paced matrix environment.
  • Willingness to travel up to 60% and manage remote stakeholder relationships.
