Responsibility

  • Provide evidence-based midwifery care across pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period, including routine risk screening and care planning.
  • Support spontaneous, managed, and high-risk births as part of a multidisciplinary team; monitor fetal well-being and labor progress.
  • Offer intrapartum comfort measures, pain management options, and informed consent discussions.
  • Perform newborn assessments, early lactation support, and referrals for specialized care when indicated.
  • Develop individualized care plans in collaboration with families and maintain accurate, confidential documentation.
  • Educate families on breastfeeding, parenting, safety, nutrition, and postnatal self-care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and continuous professional development.
  • Provide culturally competent care, safeguarding, and signpost families to community resources.

Qualification

  • Active and up-to-date registration with the NMC (UK) or equivalent governing body.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Midwifery or equivalent; further clinical training preferred.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of direct midwifery experience across pregnancy, birth and postnatal care.
  • Strong clinical assessment, risk management, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, empathy, and teamwork with diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, neonatal resuscitation, lactation support, and mental health screening.
