TerraNova Mining Solutions is seeking a Senior Mining Engineer to lead technical excellence across open pit and underground projects in Western Australia. This role focuses on mine design, planning, risk management, and optimization to deliver safe, sustainable, and productive mining operations. Responsibility
- Lead the design, planning, and optimization of open pit and underground mine plans using industry standard software to maximize safety and productivity.
- Conduct geotechnical and hydrogeological analyses, evaluate rock mass conditions, and implement mitigating controls.
- Develop mining methods, sequencing, drilling and blasting plans, and production schedules aligned with ore grade control and processing capacity.
- Manage project controls including budget, schedule, risk registers, and variance analysis; report to senior stakeholders.
- Review technical reports, ore reserve estimations, reconciliations, and ensure data integrity across systems.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers; facilitate cross-functional collaboration with geology, processing, and maintenance teams.
- Champion safety, environmental compliance, and sustainable mining practices; implement improvement initiatives and performance metrics.
Qualification
- Tertiary degree in Mining Engineering or related field; professional registration or eligible in Australia (P Eng / CPEng preferred).
- 8+ years of mining engineering experience in open pit and/or underground operations; proven track record of delivering compliant designs and plans.
- Proficiency with mining software such as Vulcan, Deswik, Surpac, MineSched, AutoCAD; experience with 3D modelling and data analytics.
- Strong grounding in geotechnical modelling, blast design, sequencing, reserve estimation, and reconciliation.
- In-depth knowledge of Western Australian mining regulations and safety standards (MSA, MSL, Codes of Practice).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and team collaboration skills; ability to influence stakeholders and manage cross-functional deliverables.
- Willingness to travel to remote sites and possess a valid driver's license.
