Job description
TerraNova Resources, a leading operator in the minerals sector, seeks a Senior Mining Engineer to drive design, planning, and execution across open pit and underground projects in Western Australia. You will partner with geology, survey, and production teams to optimize ore extraction while maintaining the highest safety and environmental standards. This role offers a clear path to leadership, advanced analytics, and exposure to international projects.
As a member of our Perth team, you will contribute to the full project lifecycle from concept through feasibility, execution, and optimization, with a focus on reliability, cost control, and sustainable practices.
Responsibility
- Lead the design and optimization of open pit and underground mining plans, sequencing, and production schedules
- Develop and review mine designs, pit and stope optimization, and grade control strategies
- Model resources, perform reserve estimation, cut-off grades, and economic analysis
- Ensure adherence to safety, health, and environmental standards and regulatory requirements
- Coordinate with geology, survey, planning, and operations to execute plans safely and efficiently
- Prepare feasibility studies, risk assessments, and capital cost estimates for projects
- Lead technical reviews, mentor junior engineers, and drive continuous improvement
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering; Master’s degree preferred
- Professional Engineer registration or eligible in Western Australia
- Minimum 7 years of mining experience in open pit and/or underground operations
- Strong proficiency with mining software (Vulcan, Surpac, Deswik or equivalent) and project controls
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience in safety leadership, incident investigation, and regulatory compliance
- Ability to manage budgets, support feasibility studies, and optimize capital expenditure
- Willingness to travel and relocate to Perth as needed
