In this role, you will collaborate with geologists, metallurgists, and operations to optimize ore extraction, design, and support the lifecycle of mining projects. We offer a competitive package, career progression, and a culture focused on safety, integrity, and innovation.

Responsibility

  • Lead the design, planning, and optimization of open-pit and underground mine layouts to maximize ore recovery and safety.
  • Develop and review mine designs, sequence plans, and production schedules using industry-standard software (Surpac, Vulcan, AutoCAD).
  • Conduct geotechnical assessments and coordinate with geologists to manage rock behavior, slope stability, and ground control.
  • Oversee blasting design and fragmentation planning to optimize throughput while maintaining regulatory compliance and worker safety.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (production rate, ore grade, dilution) and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with WorkSafe/OSHA-equivalents, environmental regulations, and company safety policies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on feasibility studies, due diligence, and project execution from scoping to execution.
  • Provide mentorship and training for junior engineers and coordinate with operations on shift planning and risk management.

Qualification

  • 5+ years of mining engineering experience in open pit and/or underground operations.
  • Proficient in mine design software (Surpac, Vulcan, MineSight) and data analytics tools; strong CAD skills.
  • Strong understanding of geotechnical principals, ventilation, and blasting design; knowledge of regulatory safety standards.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities; proven project management skills.
  • Willingness to travel to sites and work flexible shifts as required; eligible to work in Australia and hold a valid driver's license.
  • Demonstrated safety mindset and commitment to sustainable mining practices.
