TerraNova Mining is seeking a Senior Mining Engineer to lead mine design and optimization initiatives for our Western Australian operations. You will collaborate with geologists, metallurgists and construction teams to deliver safe, efficient, and compliant mining projects. The ideal candidate has strong rock mechanics, pit optimization, and hands on field experience. This is a permanent full time role based in Perth with global opportunities.
Responsibility
- Lead comprehensive mine design, scheduling, and optimization using state of the art software
- Develop and review drill and blast plans to maximize safety and productivity
- Analyze rock mass properties and support systems to manage ground conditions
- Collaborate with geologists to optimize ore grade control and reserve estimation
- Mentor junior engineers and coordinate cross functional teams on capital projects
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and HSE standards across all stages of mining
- Provide technical input to miners and construction crews during operations and cave-ins
- Deliver high quality technical reports and asset lifecycle documentation
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or allied field; Master highly regarded
- 5+ years of experience in surface or underground mining environments
- Strong knowledge of mine design, scheduling, Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical methods
- Proficiency in mining software such as Surpac, Vulcan, Datamine or similar
- Experience with drill and blast design, blast vibration management, and ore reserve estimation
- Demonstrated leadership, communication and project management skills
- Commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and sustainable mining practices
- Willingness to relocate to Perth or be based there with travel as required
